Asia

Phoenix

Former '80s music superstars and multi-platinum artists, Asia returns to the music scene with their new album, Phoenix. For the first time in 25 years, all four original band members – Steve Howe, Geoff Downes, John Wetten and Carl Palmer – join musical forces to create a reminiscent album, one that showcases the classic '80s pop/rock sound that made Asia a musical force.

Asia opens Phoenix with “Never Again,” a standard rock classic that features a strong backbeat mirrored with whining guitar and synthesizer. With catchy minor chord progressions in the chorus, “Never Again,” is an anthem to love.

Two other memorable tracks on this album are “Nothing’s Forever,” and “Orchard Mine.” “Nothing’s Forever,” a creative track featuring an a capella introduction subsequently colored by symphonic instrumentation, is unforgettable, particularly when the introduction melts into a traditional rock ballad. “Orchard Mine” is a piano-fueled poignant dedication to love. With its romantic vocals and smooth instrumentation, “Orchard Mine” is a hit.

With star tracks like “Shadow of a Doubt” and “Over and Over,” Asia proves they still have that musical quality that attracted listeners two decades ago. Featuring typical '80s instrumentation, particularly the always popular synthesizer, Phoenix is a veritable tribute to an era of poignant classic rock.
